British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (3-5 years old)
For our students between three and five years old we follow The British Early Years Foundation Stage. Children are guaranteed an extraordinarily warm welcome, where the emphasis is very much on a vibrant and varied curriculum with a wealth of opportunities to explore and learn both inside and outdoors.
Children who turn three before the end of the year can enter the Nursery in the September of that year. Children joining Nursery will attend school from 8.45 to 3.45 pm with the possibility of additional after school activities between 4 and 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
Early Years education continues into the Reception class the September of the year that your child turns four. Reception houses well-balanced classes, made up from children moving up from Endaze British International School Nursery and new children joining our school for their first year. Boys and girls from other pre-schools and nurseries are also welcomed at this stage and are carefully integrated with children who have moved from our own Nursery.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right.
Settling in procedures and the transition from one year group to the next are carefully considered according to individual needs and this will be discussed with you individually by teaching staff.
Early years learning concentrates on 7 areas split between prime and specific areas of learning.
The prime areas of learning are:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development
The specific areas of learning are:
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
Teaching is often done through play, where the child learns about subjects and other people through a variety of activities and games.
